So pushed the my 26er with my Thermoworks Billows to the max i would say.
#HUNSAKERSMOKERS Rocks!! Thanks for making this
I had an idea and I had Hunsaker Smokers make a custom baffle/coal basket Hunsaker Smokers did a great job. This is not for sale yet but enough interest they will make a batch.
So this is a one piece unit and it directs the air from your blower or vents from the bottom up under the coals and great for low and slow.
I tested out 115 weber briquettes and lit 10 and banked them. Then added the rest. I wanted to see how long this would last. I set the my thermoworks billows to 225. I started yesterday around 450pm and ended the next day at 250pm. I got a 23rd smoke. I didn't lift or touch a thing I just let it fly. I wanted to see if I would have a ash problem but never did.
I know many variables can play out with this but wanted to share. I know many people love their Hunsaker Griddles and this is my 2nd best accessory from them as well. they made a 22 for his kettle and I have the 26. This worked perfectly for my type of cooks.
I always use a drip pan for easy clean up. I will more then likely season this like the griddle and make it non stick

pretty cool !

Pretty cool, It would be nice if you guys put a lip on the semicircle portion of this thing to catch the drippings. Dual purpose. Use it as a griddle or drip pan.

Idk, if I'm not reading well this morning or if it was actually 22 hours, either way, this is pretty awesome. I pick up my 26 today!

I’m not seeing the baffle offered in Hunsaker website. Was it a custom item you ordered through them?

I seasoned it like my griddle from them with flax seed oil and it says in my grill 100% of the time. The drippings just flake right off makes for easy clean up. I really like it alot. I do alot of 2 zone cooking on the 26 so to have it all banked on a side is awesome

But banked coals on one side does major long term damage to the porcelain enamel. I will never do that again.

I’ve been banking directly on the kettle walls for years with no problem. I wouldn’t do it on a collectible kettle but I haven’t had any problem on my black kettles I use everyday.

I've gotten similar results from my Fireboard and SNS equipped 26". I triple wrap the grate in HD Foil covering the same areas as that insert. The key is making sure to take the extra time and fully seal off the sides of the grate

That's what i was doing before. I was bored and had an idea.. the one thing I like is I can flip it over with and put It on the grate and use it for smash burgers
