I currently have two.  This one is my keeper.

Weber would still be making these, and selling the hell
out of them if my vote mattered.

What purpose/advantages  does it serve over a WGA?

Which is quite possibly my favourite grill

So the Weber Char Q arrived today and I put it together in less than 10 minutes solid grill.  If you own a Weber Q 2200 gas grill this is the same size so any accessories you can use for it works on this grill. 280 square inches of cooking space but only 2 inches clearance from bottom of charcoal tray to grill grates but I have ideas for a lower charcoal grate to get more distance plus I have a set of grill grates that fit almost perfect!

Such a good grill.  Looking forward to hearing how you like
the cooking results.  Nice add with the GrillGrates.  I have
used a set of a Genesis - just run them sideways- and was
very pleased.  If you decide to paint, hit me up, and I will
give you all the details.

So a few things that changed for the Char Q, first new grill grates as the cast iron ones that came with grill are really rough coated. Got a SS grill basket to use as a charcoal basket to preserve the charcoal basket that came with grill.

After first use I can say this grill gets hot and gets hot fast, the owners manual says 50 briqs is good for direct high heat more like 30 to 40 for high heat and 25 to 30 for mid to high heat. With 50 in my diy basket not theirs with the grill grates in-700* center to a low 625* on both ends.

This should make a great chicken and steak grilling machine and the pork chops I did yesterday came out super with just Pit Barrel Cooker All Purpose Rub. Photos from start to finish on next cook.

Do a good sand job and heat grill up for about two hours at about 400* to cure paint!
