Title: 1967 Weber Seville
Post by: Idaho Joe on January 23, 2020, 05:28:03 AM
I ran across one yesterday that was left behind on a home I foreclosed on. From what I saw it appears to be all there. Cart is white, kettle is green, has ash catcher and lid. Going back tonight to remove as its sitting in the snow right now. I'm going to keep it but curious on the value?? Any ideas?? Thanks

I think most folks will say that it all depends (condition, color, etc.).  If you're keeping it, I wouldn't even worry about it's FMV (unless you're planning to insure it). I'm sure you've already checked ebay, but that might give you an idea.  It sounds like this would be a good restoration project - you'd have tons of people willing to help you in that endeavor. Good luck!

Thanks. I know my wife will think the cart is gawdy but I like it. I just googled it this morning because I have never seen one like this before and it led me to this site. I will post some pics when I pick it up but it looks to be in good shape. I will follow the restoration directions from this site for sure. Thanks again. Its winter here in North Idaho so this will give me something to so until spring!

First things first...welcome to the club!!!

That’s a helluva kettle to introduce yourself with.  We’d all love to see some pics of ‘er.  Looking forward to some resto pics as well.

Values are subjective, so there is really no definitive answer.  It’s truly whatever a buyer & seller agree to.

That's a very nice grill. I'd take your time with the restore. Theres a few restore threads on here. If I got one of these I'd feel like I would want the table and chairs to go with it lol

Very nice!  Avocado Seville "chariot."  Looks like the wheels still have their rubber tread which is surprising.  I love it!  Congrats, and good luck with the restore.

Idaho Joe contacted me via text earlier today & it looks like I'm the lucky bastard who will be looking for a local agent or trying to get my niece to pick it up (I have to find out where she moved to in WA first, but I do believe her in-laws are in northern Idaho, Cor delane (or however it is spelled, if memory serves), so I'm hopeful.

I don't mind if you are enjoying it a bit.  And, I agree, it is a sweet Seville, especially the kettle color.

Besides the sweet Seville would it be wrong to be enjoying this thread ? If I knew how to photoshop something I would take the pic of the Seville and sling some mud on it and repost LOL

Sweet Jesus.....Yes the grill is spoken for by Mr. Potsie Weber. Why??? because he was first to contact me and has a cool name. I loved Happy Days LOL. If it doesn't get picked up which is highly unlikely then I will give it away to the next person who contacted me and so forth as it should be. My wife wants it to stay where I found it. Its still on the property I foreclosed on so aside from some tweaker trespassing and stealing it its still there.

Well shit..... Maybe I will just have my contractor who was supposed to do the clean up on this home take it to the damn dump so no one gets it. Jesus been on here less than a few weeks and drama already. This is why I collect knives and guns! No one gonna bitch about that! I figured a BBQ site....How bad can it be? Im going steelhead fishing this weekend in Orofino Idaho for a few days. Hope its gone by the time I get back. If not I will make it a first come first served for whomever wants it.

I cleaned up this thread and our member list.

Remember the most important WKC rule: Don't be a dick.
It doesn't matter if you think the other person is a dick, it doesn't mean you can be a balls-out dick.

Humans first. Grills second.

UPDATE- A member in the area had agreed to secure the grill for me & I'm guessing it could have been arranged quickly if things had gone smoothly.

After this thread, I was still in contact with Idaho Joe & he still said the grill was mine.  But, he was going out of town for a few days.  Then, he lost his work cell phone, where I had been contacting him.  Eventually, he contacted me through WKC PM & said he would go past the property to see if the grill was still there.  I emailed him at work today, and he indicated that he was sad to say, he had received a message from the contractor that they had cleaned up the property & when he drove over there, the grill was gone.

He believes it may be in a dump by now, but I am hopeful that one of the contractor's workers may have decided to take it home to use & that it will be cared for.

I don't know how clear it was from this thread, but the most amazing thing was Idaho Joe didn't even want anything for the grill.  I had contacted him early on & he sent me some pics.  I asked how much and he said didn't want anything, just indicated he basically wanted it to be saved & appreciated.  How incredibly cool was that?

In any event, I think there is a decent possibility that it may have survived.  Perhaps one of the contractor's workers got it, the next door neighbor grabbed it, or some kid carted it off.  One can hope it survived.

In the meantime, for any member is in the area, you might want to check the dump (if they don't basically cover stuff right away) or the local scrap yards.  You never know.
