Title: Will kettle pizza ruin finish?
Post by: jeremiahmercier on June 23, 2019, 06:57:59 AM
Is this an actual concern? Have any of you with colored kettles had issues from the heat ruining the finish?

I have the start of some crazing on my gold 22 from running 900°+ for several hours of pizza making at a backyard BBQ party. I don't really care. Grills are made for cooking. If you care a lot about the finish, pick up a beat up 22 on Craigslist for $20 and make it a dedicated pizza cooker if you have the space (and go ahead from your significant other).

$10 beater, no worries about taking the finish off her.

Due to the temperatures reached I would never use one of my redhead beauties to cook pizza. I use one specifically in the knowledge that it is a suicide mission.
