@56MPG
Took your great idea from back in early 2017 (was browsing around the WKC forums and found yours)
So I made one BIG charcoal basket out of 2 regular size Weber baskets
Drilled a few holes added some bolts and nuts
30mins took to modify :)
can’t wait to try it out...!!!

That's briliant Mauro good job. I think I'll do the same with mine too.

+1
Made two for high heat indirect on the 26.
Fantastic way to plank fish or chix.

Brillant!

I just did the same the other day! I have yet to cook with it though..... I may line the bottom with expanded steel...

@racedvl
It works great
But now that I used it I do believe you comment of lining the bottom will help a lot
Example: after adding the charcoal I tried to slide the basket around and it got stuck with charcoal poking out at the bottom
So Yes!! Do the expanded steel
Let me know how first cook goes ;)

What a great idea. I have a 26" and when cooking indirect I always place all my coals to one side vs a pile on each side and because the baskets are too small I dump my lighted coals right on the grate. This way I can use the baskets together which will hold plenty. have two new baskets in the garage never used so will have a project tomorrow. Thanks again Mauro for the info.

Used the Grater Bigger Basket yesterday. Half a chimney of unlit on the bottom and a full chimney of lit on top kept the 26er just over 400 for more than two hours. Plenty of time (and real estate) to cook three meatloafs indirect, and sear slices at the end. It was still at 400 when I checked after dinner. How can anyone not build one of these things?

@56MPG
Any pics of the meatloaf?
Mouth watering just reading it

Negative. Too many things going on. Next time I'll document the entire process properly, the meatloaf was a big hit. One of the loafs kind of fell apart at the end, but I seared what I could anyway. People said those were the best parts. I agree.
