Title: Question/survey/opinion
Post by: Vinnybaggadonuts on January 31, 2018, 10:19:04 AM
I’ve been researching reviews on the new kettle (22”) and have been seeing quite a few saying the kids for the most part are made w a thinner sheet metal this not holding up as well as previous models/years, along w welds coming apart...

Any body here w new vs old able to weigh in?
Obviously EVERYTHING these days is made cheaper to an extent...

If this has been covered already, point me to the thread...

That's a heavily debated topic around here.  You can search the word quality and find a lot of discussions.  Here are a couple that jumped out to me.

Pros and cons to both new and old imo. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a new kettle if that’s what I wanted.

Look. Thinner means nothing. It is a completely different grade of steel to what was used before. Where I work, we make the steel for Weber. It is good, very good.
