Title: Which round pizza stone?
Post by: GoAnywhereJeep on January 03, 2018, 07:48:39 AM
Hey gang,

Looking for a pizza stone to fit the GBS system and don't necessarily want the Weber stone.

The Weber stone is listed as a 14" diameter stone. I found a couple of 16" stones that have ridges on the bottom side to help retain the heat and they also seem to be a little thicker in the pictures.

Does anyone have feedback on either "Old Stone Oven" brand or the "Love this Kitchen" brand on amazon? These look like interesting options to the Weber, albeit sans the handles.

Before I upgraded to my tombstone from Kettle Pizza a cracked a couple of stones until I got one from California Pizza Stones.  The thing is bullet proof.  I'd highly recommend ordering one from them.  Check out the way they test their stones on their page!

I recommend a kiln shelf.  You will not regret it.

What's a kiln shelf?

A shelf, so to speak, used in a kiln to fire pottery.  Can handle very high temperatures.
I picked up mine at a pottery supply store back in 2013 in Kitchener.
