Title: Weber Stainless Performer Propane Tank
Post by: tb80 on February 02, 2016, 07:02:35 PM
I have the opportunity to pick up a stainless Weber performer for around $70. However, it is missing the propane tank. How hard is it to replace the propane tank. Will it only take the small ones?  Is it cost prohibitive?

Go for it! I love SSPs. Can't answer your questions, directly... But lighter cubes work just fine.

New ones won't fit on the stainless steel performer.  Here's a couple of links to help you out.

Not sure if this would work, but here's a link on Lowes: http://www.lowes.com/pd_313493-743-281149_1z0wejl__?productId=3089591&pl=1 (http://www.lowes.com/pd_313493-743-281149_1z0wejl__?productId=3089591&pl=1)

Probably need the adapter if its a quick connect adapter...
There many ppst about the adapter to replace the quick connect.  Then new 5 lb propane mansfield runs about $55.

If the performer is in good shape...at $70..another $70 to make it has assist isnt bad... $140-150 total costs

If you have a Ferrellgas like the one in my area. They recertified my 5lb tank. They said they get these tanks in their yard and trash them. They don't want to mess with that small of tank because they do business in the larger volume tanks. They recertified mine and filled it for $7. Just a thought.

There are mods that have been done to make the SSP work with the disposable tanks... I'll try to find some links in a bit.

Thanks for input everyone.  Unfortunately I didn't get the performer.  It was in another town that I was visiting for business and the seller never got back to me while I was in town.
