HankB, I was inspired by your winter cook........to wait until it was WARMER ! HA! So it's 25 tonight, warm enough.
I'm working my way through the Weber App "On the Grill", and it's Rosemary Tri-Tip time. The marinade was the following:
2 Tbls whole-grain mustard
2 Tbls steak sauce
2 Tbls evoo
1 Tbls balsamic vinegar
1 Tbls finely chopped rosemary
a little salt, a little pepper, and a tri-tip.
I was a little apprehensive about the mustard and steak sauce, I'm usually just a salt and pepper guy. But the marinade was pretty good and the resulting roast was excellent. Here's some pics...

Coals are ready!

Five minute sear for each side

Almost done, rolls on for the last eight minutes.

I would prefer it a little more rare, but I'm frequently out voted.

I stopped by the Rainbow by your work last Friday. I asked if they had tri-tip, so the butcher goes in the back, brings out a sirloin and cuts out the tri-tip; and fine job he did!

Almost eight hours. The recommended time was 4 - 12 hours, probably could have gone the distance with 12 hours but all I had was 8.

Heat wave!
Judging by the pictures it looks like it was well worth the effort to get out and work in the cold.
In some parts of the country they wouldn't even go outside http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6t-EjrtD3U&feature=share
