When the above was posted up about low center pile coals, it really got me to thinking about all the diiferent ways I've used coals & all the different gizmos people market as add-ons & smoker attachments / pizza attachments, etc.
Well, low & behold, one of my buds over at the Smoke Ring got busy & came up with this ~~~>

Make Martini's ;D I think the concept is it looks like a charcoal basket that you can regulate temps for longer cooks and add more charcoal as needed

It appearently heats real evenly from the center, sort of like the exact reverse of running coals all around the edge of the charcoal grate....
He built one for himself & one for a bro-in-law & the BIL got the hang of it right away & used way less coal than he did on the 1st few cooks
I'm pretty sure I'll put one of these together soon as I feel better......
