Shipping Kettles within the USA
« on: February 08, 2018, 07:07:00 PM »
I have purchased an old ‘77 Kettle in the USA, and I am in Australia. (Learning about all this fast!) Need some advice guys - what’s the cheapest way to ship a Weber Kettle 77 from Mundelein, IL to Atlanta GE in the USA? I have a mate in Atlanta that is agenting to me in Australia. Thanks in advance.

I grew up in Mundelein! Fedex is usually the best rates for a kettle. I’d expect around $40-50 shipped ground. Make an account and sign into Fedex to get the best price.
"Have you hugged your Weber today?"

@pbe gummi bear - thanks for that, will look into it. I have tried a few on line prices and it was looking pretty expensive, when I had a price of $268 to get it to Australia from Atlanta. Does a ‘77 weigh about 15kg? Cheers.

I highly doubt you can get a 22” shipped to Australia for under $100. I was quoting shipping an SJ to Australia with my FedEx account and it was more than $200 just for that little guy.

I forget who posted it but it looks like USPS international shipping was the cheapest option but will still be more than $100.

Thanks for the heads up, I will hunt around a bit. I am in no rush so it can take a month or longer to get here, I have a couple of other kettles to keep me fed!

That wOuld be too Australia. I obviously didn't compute what I read last night lol
FedEx is usually cheapest for a 22 and  big boxes. USPS for smaller like SJ.
SJ to Australia is about 115 through USPS

I have a few kettles that are headed down under. I’m using myusa.com. 3 kettles shipped from their facility in Florida to Australia will be about US$490. They have a 20% off special at the moment - haven’t checked out the details though.

Just FYI, when I was looking at shipping options I found that many carriers priced by dimensional weight and not actual weight. There are several services similar to myusa and what I like is that they will consolidate packages into the one shipment.

Can't speak for AU, but I shipped a 22.5 kettle from PA to Austria via USPS for $150. It would have cost as much or more to ship it to California!

Hi Team (& Jules)

Can anyone please help! I have a lovely lady who brought Kettle from in Chicago who has never shipped a Weber to Australia or anywhere before, she is a novice but totally giving it a go, I have never shipped a Weber either.

So we followed the on line WKC link for how to pack and ship a 22” Kettle.

She has gone to ship it today and this is the email she just sent :

“...I went to usps and of course it’s too large. It weighs 41.5 lbs but the problem is with the dimensions. 24 inches x 24 x 20.

Fedex and ups want over $800 unless it’s shipped “freight” in which case i must “shrink wrap it”.

I went back to your ‘myus’ page and I don’t want to make an account when in the end it would be you having to make the acct bc you’re the buyer.”

So we are at a bit of a dead end and I can’t afford $1000. Any ideas?

Many thanks

Matt
