*DONE DEAL*My vortex for your warming rack?
« on: September 18, 2015, 11:54:15 AM »
well, I've tried it a few times, but I'm just not seeing myself using this medium sized vortex all that much.  Anybody have a weber warming rack they'd like to trade?  The vortex is discolored from the heat and smoke but still in good condition.

Might be able to work a deal with you, @Grizz ... let me double check my stash. I'll shoot you a PM this evening when I'm home from work.  What are the dimensions of the medium vortex?

It has an 8 inch opening on top and a 12 inch opening on the bottom.  This is what it looks like.

I rinsed it off and gave it a light scrub with a green scrub pad and dried it, but little brown spots popped up.  Rust?  Maybe I should hit it with steel wool or would that just make it worse?  Granted it's suppose to have flaming coals shooting out of it and not a bunch of daffodils, but I don't want anyone to open the box it comes in and goes WTH is this!?

Side note, green scrubbies can scratch the hell out of stainless and sometime make things worse.  If you want it bright and shiny, try barkeepers friend and a dish rag.

@grizz. Just to clarify.  It's really more of a concern with stainless appliances, polished stainless cookware, stainless parts of my tissue culture hoods and incubators at work, sanitary tanks and fittings in a brewery, the mirrored finish on your dalorean, etc.

A few spots of surface corrosion on that vortex isnt a big deal.

Thanks again for the trade, Todd. The vortex came in handy for an event I did this weekend, crisping up close to 1000 smoked chicken legs.

No problem!  And the warming rack has come in mighty handy toasting buns and heating frozen curly fries after I burnt the heck out of the hand cut plank fries because I got too engrossed in a Top Gear episode :-)
