ISO Red(?) Performer SS Lid in Good Condition
« on: July 20, 2019, 05:33:59 AM »
The last piece of the puzzle in restoring this grill is to find the right cover, the previous owner replaced it at some time with a black one.

The color, I am not sure of since I saw listed another ( Red Mist), and I do not know the difference, being a newbie. Can anyone set me straight on the difference between the two by using side-by-side photos?

Thanks, I have no problem paying a fair price for good condition lid.

Steve

A red mist is basically two tones of red.  One shade of red is along the circumference, usually along the bottom edge of the lid.  Another shade of red is seen on the rest of the grill.  A regular red just is a single shade of red.

If nobody else posts one I can get the hose out and spray this dusty thing off that I just bought. Pretty sure I see some mist under the dust

Did you get the grill out of KC by chance? I remember seeing a red with a black lid posted, but it was sold when I hit them up

Hey, thank you guys. I dug a little deeper using the search functions, and found good shots of the Red Mist, itís got a sort of dark shadowing effect. So, that means my grill is Red . . .and I sure can use one. Happy to pay a good  price for a good Red lid!

Probably want to say lid instead of cover so others don't think you want one of the things to put over the entire grill.  I believe the bowl for the red mist is identical to the bowl for a red, so you could probably seek either lid.  Where are you located?

You should probably keep an eye for a decent donor lid locally.  If you are looking to keep it as close to original as possible, you can keep an eye out for any red kettle that has the thermometer that goes through in the handle area.  The handle is a bit taller than normal, but has an aluminum wedge shaped that covers the thermometer under the handle, so you tend not to notice that it is taller unless this aluminum piece is missing.  They had some old one touch sort of grill that had lid bales & that handle, but did not have the ash can of the master touch.  One of those might wind up being one of the least expensive useful donors.

Thanks, Hal. Will try to use the correct terminology, I need a Red lid. I do not care for the Red Mist version.
I am in the Bay area of California, closer actually to Santa Cruz. Yes, I have been scouring Craigslist, but all I see is black . . .black . . .black . . .

Colored kettles go fast on Craigslist, if you have access to facebook marketplace, it seems that's where a lot of people sell their stuff now. If you dont have it, dont waste your time making a facebook account because you won't have access to the market place, I know from experience.

The other kettle Hal is talking about is called a "one touch plus" they made them for a couple years b4 the master touch.  I have a blue one, its probably my favorite grill right now
