bucks. Deepest condolences to the family.
I lost my dad too 13 yrs. ago, and like you said, best thing to happen was for him to go.
All of us just couldn't take it no more seeing the pain he was in.
Pick a favourite dish of your dad's, slap it in your cooker,
and i'm sure it will be the best cook you've ever done.
Posting required obviuosly. Take care man.
Carmen

Thanks for that Carmen !!

And I'm content & happy to report it WAS one of the best & most consistent sets of Q I've ever done....
I really tried hard on this one.....

started Wednesday nite with the basics for 12#'s of deep Fried Potato salad ~~>

Mixed & prepped a bunch of stuff on Thursday nite & Got the stuff really going Friday afternoon / evening ~~~>

Setting kettles for some allnighters ~~>

20# even choice Angus tri-tip ~~~>

Out of 5 pieces, two got this mix, to cook all nite with the pork ~~>

Two got this mix, to indirect grill the day of ~~>

& one got peeled for hot & fast reverse sear rare ~~>

This is chocolate dry rub ~~>

Got two butts going (counter-clockwise burn) ~~>

And the 2 tips together (clockwise burn) ~~>

Did two pans of drip beans, one sweet, one savory ~~>

Tri-tip @ 7am (8 hours @ 185-190° ) ~~>

Pork at about the same time ~~>

1st tri-tip pulled @ 11 hours, bumped the temp to 250° for an hour on the 2nd ~~>

1st (OK shread) ~~>

2nd (interstellar pull, best one I've ever done, by far !!  Hyper moist ) ~~>

Butts were ready not long after ~~>

Ribs were going while I was noodling with all the above ~~>

Did some foiled fall off the bone ribs for Mom, who claims all older people don't like that 'smoky stuff'' ~~>

Did tips & a big batch of ABT's at my brother's place where we held the memorial,

Set out cheese & veg & fruit trays & the wife contributed pickled corn relish & cold chicken thigh salad ~~>

& the deep fried tater salad & broccoli slaw ~~>

Pulled tip & beans ~~>

What's left of the pulled pork & ribs in the back,
with the grilled tips ~~>

Also did 150 choink balls (Just ahead of the ribs that morning) set with the 'turds ~~~>

It was a tremendous service attended by a large group a folks he worked with at the Corp of Engineers,
all kinds of friends & relatives (some I haven't seen in 20 years)
I guessed ahead for 75 (there was 76) ~~~>

The wife slam dunked the dessert table with 2 peach & one blackberry cobblers......

Dad always liked to eat up a good feed with friends, so I think we did him right !!!

All his friends sure thought so, not much left in the end

Thanks fer lookin'.....

This one was special.....

That was quite a sendoff! Phenomenal job on everything. Next to myself that's the first time I have seen pulled tri's. I usually just cook them regular and reheat the lefties the next day slowly so they pull for sammies.

Thanks, duke....

I was in warp drive for 3 days on that cook.....
Wanted it to be as close to perfect as I could get, got it....
Only thing I didn't get was some better close-ups of the food; was taking pics of people or dishing out more goods right up until most was GONE !!

We're in the small club for pulled tip as most folks pay an arm & a leg for them.....

Around here chuck 2-1/2" thick cut is abt $3.49# while t-tips are $2.99#

I've done the slow re-heat style too... comes out yummy !!!
