Dutch oven camping
« on: March 16, 2014, 07:31:11 AM »
Hanging out at the Russian river this weekend and snapped a couple of quick shots

The cooking setup - Dutch oven table and jumbo joe

Breakfast hash (potatoes, onion, garlic, peppers, spices)

350 for 30 minutes

Eggs on the weber chimney burner

And a little music to keep the cook happy (must have been a serious song)

Sorry, no "plated" shots, too busy having fun!

Great to cookup in the out-of-doors, with musical accompaniment no less !!!

Where are you, by Jenner, the gulch, or inland?

Nice cook.  Especially like the Lodge with the elk on the lid.

Nice setup! I like my Dutch ovens a lot. Never seen one with the elk on it though. And the only ones I've ever seen with brass tags were owned by a scout troop. The scoutmaster that preceded me was a little OCD and wanted to make sure the lids were matched up with the right pots. ;)

Great looking cooking setup Winz, y'all picked the best weekend for a getaway. The weather is SO nice... maybe topped out at 80 degrees this afternoon..

Hank,  That 12" with the elk is my favorite oven - had it for quite a while.  Good eye on the tags - the guy that built me the cooking table supplied me with 4 sets of tags for my ovens.  He is a competitive D.O. cook and told me they use them during large cook offs to ensure no one ends up with someone else's lids or ovens.

Mirkwood - simply incredible.  I would have loved to stay a whole week but afraid I would not come back.

I'm the same way when I go camping, I pretty much never want to come back. ::)

Good idea if you're cooking with a large group! I hadn't thought of that because I haven't done that (except with the scouts and then it was not my ovens.)
