thoughts on other forum softwares?

I'm thinking of switching to VBulletin soon.

This will make design, development, maintenance, etc easier.

Anyone have any thoughts or opinions?

I use vBulletin on my forum and I won't use any other. The latest incarnation includes mobile adaptability so no need for Tapa. I don't get into the technicalities though. My IT people do that.

Forum is sydneyangler.com.au I'm waiting for my IT people to do my upgrade. Should be done in a couple of weeks. As soon as the silly season is over.

I've used PHPBB and SMF mostly just because they are free, I'd like to try VBulletin at some point... must be a reason almost all major forums use it.

Tapa can be used if integrated into the software after the initial install. What software do TVWBB use?

virtual bullet uses vbulletin

tapatalk will still work with vbulletin if the admin installs and configures it.

If the new forum S/W has a feature that tracks a user's threads which have had further replies, that would be great! An example of that is the "UserCP" display at BBQ-Brethren and also encountered at overclockers.com. I just looked and see that both use vBulletin so if that feature needs to be enabled, please do so. I prefer that to emails as a way of tracking responses. I need one or the other to make sure I don't overlook a question that someone asks in reply to one of my posts.
