Grates for my new Performer Platinum

I just ordered a Performer Platinum and was wondering everyone's opinion on grates. Should I stick with what comes with? I like the Weber Gourmet system and was contemplating that or the Stok SIS9000 or this:

Anyone have experience with these? I am especially interested if the Stok grate works with the Weber gourmet stuff like the wok or griddle. Is the center hole the same size?

Cant help you with your questions, cuz I dont have those grates, but I wanted to tell you "welcome to the community!"

I bought a STOK grill at HD on clearance last Xmas for $25 just for the grate (Gave the BBQ to a neighbor).  The cast iron Grate is sweet but not compatible to Weber accessories.

Can't answer about the stok stuff as I have zero experience.  But, the Weber Gourmet grates are very nice.  I'm really happy with mine.
The Craycorts you linked to - those are top notch!
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

I just bought the Stok grates for my performer at Target on clearance for $22.48.  I've used them twice so far and I think they

are fine....especially for that price.  They also had the center grate removal tool for less than five bucks.  Can't remember

exactly.  If you have a store near you check them out.  They will mark them down even more until all are sold but I didn't want

to chance it.  Good luck.

I have the Weber gourmet and the Stok cast iron and both are nice. The Stok insert is maybe a 1/2 inch smaller diameter than the weber insert.

I find I use the Weber cast iron insert more because I usually am only grilling 2-3 steaks at a time, but you'd be happy with the Stok, especially if you can get it cheap. Keep an eye out for a used one, as the Stok grill is crap and they are reaching the end of their useful lives after 2-3 years, but the grate, charcoal ring and pizza stone are cool to have.

There are a lot of Craycort cast iron fans here (the one you linked to). The gourmet system is popular too. Honestly, I dont care for either of them, so I've stuck with the traditional hinged grates. The cast iron on the gourmet system is too small to be useful and I don't care for the pizza wedge design of the craycorts.

Does anybody know if the craycort wedges in the 22" are reversible to make the lines all go in the same direction? Their stock photos tend to make my ocd flare up. Lol

I thought I was the only one with that condition.  It drives me batty.    I DO NOT have craycorts, but my uninformed understanding is that they will sit in the wedges reversed, but that they are not flush with the grate support when reversed.  I would  love if somebody could confirm that for us ....

I saw a grill with those grates at Target, they looked pretty slick. My wife got my the Weber one for my birthday so I'm going that route, however it'll be nice to see what you decide.

Actually Craycort makes the mirrored grates, so if you buy two mirrored sections you can have the lines all going the same way.  That's what I did.....

Brilliant.

Photos of the "useless" Weber cast iron insert  ::) and the Stok grate. FWIW, the weber insert seems to weigh almost double the stok insert and it  is 12" diameter, versus 11-5/8 or so for the Stok insert.  They both are pretty useful for me.

Thanks, OGlen! That was exactly what I was looking for.  I'm leaning towards the Weber Gourmet system, but maybe both now. So many accessories, so little time...
