Are (were) they made by Weber for Sears?

No happy cooker was a competing company to weber. They made them so close to a weber that happy cooker got sued. They were bought out but weber an never built a kettle again.

That looks like a sears economy grill with weber replacement parts to me. Weber did make those sears grills but usually without any branding.

That's correct. It has late model handles that were only available post three wheeler. It also has a painted wire shelf. The ridge on the bowl is from a sears economy, made by weber. I think the bowl may have been stamped from Unarco tooling after the liquidation. These models also usually have the ash disc deflector inside. These also usually came without the whitewalled weber wheels- just plain black.
