Kroger has a buy one get one free sale going on right now for bone in pork shoulder roasts.... $2.99/lb so came out to $1.50/lb which isn't too bad.  I decided to fire up the ranch with the new(ish) slown n sear.  I filled the SNS with Jealous Devil XL with a nice size chunk each of pecan and cherry buried in the coals.  I also opted to fill the trough with hot water and placed foil pans under each roast with a little water - maybe a cup and a half each.  Got it dialed in at around 245F where it sat for 7 good hours with no peaking or touching the vents, then wrapped in aluminum pans with foil on top for about another 1.5 - 2 hours to 205F IT.  Put them in a cooler with towels under and over to rest for about 4 hours.  Pulled before bed and vac sealed 7.75 lbs for future eats. The bark on these was really good...  Grill and Smoke Sweet Heat and MC The Gospel were the rubs with yellow mustard as the binder.

We had spaghetti last night lol oh and hot dogs for lunch....

Cheers!

I've been craving pulled pork and have a butt in the freezer. Need to get it out tonight to thaw for next weekend.

Yes, pull it out!  On Friday the company next to our office was having an employee day and had a big offset going with all kinds of food going most of the day.  That, a sunny Saturday and a 1/2 price sale put this in motion.  The aromas out in our parking lot were amazing and I was ready for some pulled pork sandwiches and "Piggy Plates" as Kellee calls them when we have PP and veggie sides.  Having some family over tomorrow night and will sous vide a few bags of this.  Can't wait!
