Jburns thanks! Yeah happy it made it here in one piece! My friend ordered one also and it didn't unfortunately make the trip so well but Amazon are sorting it for him

Arrived today, couldn't be happier with the fit and finish.  Nice amount of overspray on the inside of the bowl makes this a true Weber gem to admire for the next few decades.  Modeled here with the new arrival E code CGA and the tried and true Jumbo Joe cleaned up for living room display.

Cheers!

Excellent color to go with fall decorations. :D

bamakettles that CGA is awesome. I have the same, as good as unused condition. Def keep it original, love the porcelain of that era that has the slight orange peel effect which the new ones don't have

Thanks @Tommie Agree, this one is too nice to alter in any way.  Love the handles on this one too.  Now I need to drag out all my other GAs and take a group shot.

Cabernet

They all look great!

Just a quick comment on orange peel enamel. It's actually considered an enamel defect, and we typically reject any porcelain enameled components that exhibit that trait. I personally think it looks really cool, but the irregular appearance isn't considered desirable by the average grill purchaser. This is why you won't often see it on currently produced product.

Good to know a little about the history as always mate thanks!

To reiterate and For the record I like both finishes, modern and glossy for my new shiny kettles and my old school ones with their imperfections and character.

I collect and modify old watches too, mainly Japanese, where amongst the community the Japanese saying "wabi sabi" comes up a lot. Translated it means find beauty in imperfection, impermanence and in-completeness. With older watches this means knocks, bumps, discoloured dials etc, as long as they're running right it's all good! We call them wabi watches. Some People actually force patina on watch parts like bezels by using bleach and scuffing them!

I see it the same way with Grills, aesthetically I don't mind the old knock n bump or overspray as it's all character and I  know they'll cook just fine whatever

Thanks John and Tommie for your comments.  Case in point - my '75 Aristocrat probably has more character than any other grill I own.  It has spin lines embedded in the lid as well as "Orange Peel" enamel and some overspray inside the bowl which are all things I love about it.  Character is something I appreciate in these - especially the vintage grills.

Cool info about the watches as well!

bamakettles that Aristocrat is perfection.

It's taking me some time to get round to cleaning Ranch as it's stored in my garage a couple miles away... but it's showing some cool spin lines and orange peel too after a lot of elbow grease getting years of smoke stain off. Love it. PS sorry for hikacking this thread

Thanks, the Aristocrat definitely has some post production flaws as well, but it's one of my favorites.  Your Ranch is coming along nicely - can't wait to see the end result!

Ok, back to the thread... my apologies as well for contributing to the hijack. : )

Grill is now $13 less than it was Sunday when I bought it.

Weird. It was 67.99 when I ordered on Friday (the 10th).
Today it shows 59.99
Did you see 54.99 at some point?
