My day yesterday
« on: July 21, 2013, 12:59:53 PM »
My church asked me to put on a BBQ competition, it was the first time we did it and I was in over my head.

But it was a fun day and here are some pic.  BTW, we did two categories, best ribs, and best overall BBQ.  I got first for my pulled pork.

We also sold samples to the public, they were gone in 20 minutes.

Me and my buddy Keith, I am the short one

My sweetheart master-touch

There was also a classic car show at the event so I brought my classic BBQ

I may have recently purchased a Kamado but nothing replaces my Webers.

Posing for my future first prize.

Pulling some pork

Smokenater is somewhat overrated but if I have it I might as well use it.

Nothing left, I  made 5 racks of ribs and 8 lbs of pulled pork, I am going to double it next year.
I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

Great work Jeff. Love your set up. What did you cook on the mini-wsm(s)?

Sounds like a great day! Food, cars, friends, and webers, doesn't get much better. :)

Thanks guys.

Ken, started the Ribs out in the mini's then moved to the MT for saucing later.

I helped build the mini with the wood handle for my friend and this was his maiden voyage on the mini so there was a little instruction going on as well.  I gave him a Brian handle as a token of my appreciation.

Nice looking vintage grill there hey Ken?  ;)

Perfect whether, and perfect time for all.

I love stories like that. I need to get a hold of one of those tamale pots. How difficult are they to make (mini WSM, not tamale pots)?

They are not hard at all, there are many different ways to configure them.  In fact there is another site that is almost dedicated to it.

They really are nice.
