I'm looking for a wok too, my question with that one is do you have to use the gourmet system with it. The wok is a bit highly priced but to add a bbq system at the same time is a lot of money(or a lot of picked up grills). I would love to own both someday..

That's a lot of money. Does it even come with the grate? If not, I think you'd be better off buying a normal wok with a long handle. You'll be able to flip the food better and throw it all onto a serving plate much easier.

The system certainly gets the wok positioned lower. I did notice that the wok is the only item they don't sell as a combo with the grate. What up with that?  I agree it is a little steep $ wise and I didn't want to put it on my wish list if it has a performance that is not in line with the cost.

If you are down for diy three long bolts into the charcoal grate should constrain a wok while lowering it into the charcoal. You can also set it to the exact height you want

I like your thinking. ;D Or, even something like a wire characoal ring that is elevated and sized appropriately.

Yeah but that circular wire overconstrains it. The three bolts allows for rotation of the wok in all three directions without binding. High end stoves have  a similar wok burner arrangement but usually the fingers are radial. Alternatively, asian supermarkets sell stove wok rings that may work on a kettle.
