Thought I'd drop an introductory post from CT
« on: June 15, 2021, 03:34:57 AM »
Hello, everyone. My birthday was last Thursday (6/10) and my wife gave me a wonderful present...a Weber Performer! I've been grilling for the family with those $99 tin grills from WalMart, etc., for years. But she knows I've been eyeing this beauty each time I stroll into my local hardware store (we are fortunate enough to have a nice, small, locally owned Ace in the center of town. I haven't stepped into a Home Depot in years for this very reason). You guys have no idea how happy I am with it. Now...I just need to learn how to use it better! I've done a few dinners on it so far (steaks, chicken...), but haven't really even come close to using it to its full potential yet. I did, last night, make pizza on it. Yum!

Looking forward to participating here. A little about me...

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Welcome from Huntsville, Alabama!  You're in for a treat - these kettles are so versatile and the sky is the limit.  There are tons of posts here with cooks shared - I recommend trying the search feature if there's something you're particularly interested in.  Have fun and share your successes and trials with the group!

Welcome to the WKC, it’s a down to earth bunch of grill enthusiasts.

If you can grill on a $99 Walmart grill, you should have no problem learning a 22” kettle. Let’s see pictures of your birthday Performer.

Cheers from hot and humid Florida

Heck yeah a 1 touch! My dad still lives there and I try to get him to pick up some grills every so often. He works late so by the time he is ready they are gone. I miss Wolcott and CT.

Lol, yes it does but it does miss the small town feel.

I have to say, I don't get that feel most anywhere in CT, and I've been here since 1987 (came here to work for the Whalers...sigh...how I miss the Whalers). The area has just become crowded, loud, histrionic and wwwaaayyy too busy. We are planning a move next year so we can be closer to my FIL in NH (I work in NH, anyway). My new Performer in my back yard is my escape from the urban lifestyle this area as morphed into
