Scored a nice facebook find for 30 buck.  Cleaned here up and she is in great shape.  But she has a war wound. .

Where the lid is supposed to stop it cracked fire box and a hole in the left side of fire box. 

Any ideas how go about repair or restore.  This grill will be used for quick cooked.  My charcoal is my Main

I sent in a claim to weber to see what they will do in the past they have helped. 

But any ideas how to repair

If weber doesn't help, which I would think it is past 10 years for warranty claim, I would do like you did with this one, keep an eye out for a cheap one with the bottom all rusted out, this happens a lot where I live, swap the firebox, keep the good parts and let the scrappers get the rest.

Does anyone know if the s310 use the heat deflectors or just the flavor bars

It should be just 5 flavorizer bars.

Yep 5 long bars no lower heat shields but they do lay down there alright.

That is unrepairable.

You can always find another donor grill with good Cook Box and use that. Those Grills are known for the bases rusting out and people posting them up for Free.
