SS Weber Wok (#16118)

I remember a few years ago (around 2018) seeing a Ebay listing where a seller was unloading a bunch of these SS Woks at $10 each. I think he had at least 10 for sale.  At that the time I really didn't have any interest in a wok so I passed on purchasing one.  Kinda regretted that decision ever since.  At some point Weber changed the product number to #8412 but it was the same SS wok, just a different packaging.  When Weber came out with the GBS system grates and accessories, the SS wok was discontinued and Weber began producing the porcelain coated, GBS wok. The GBS wok is much smaller than the older SS wok and the even older, first generation steel wok.

Fast forward to yesterday.  I get a text from @pbe gummi bear with a photo of an estate sale close to my house.

My eyes weren't sharp enough to pick out the NIB Weber Wok that was in the photo so gummi had to point it out to me.  Once I found out he wan't interested in picking up the wok, I jumped in my truck and headed to the sale (4.5 miles from my house). I arrived around 4 PM and the seller was starting to close up for the day.  She said it was the first day of the Estate Sale and she had around 500 people come through.  I walked through the yard and find no sign of the Weber box with the wok.  I ask the seller about the wok, saying it was in the photo she posted about the Estate Sale.  She says yes, she thinks there was a wok but thinks it was sold.   I start to leave and then something catches my eye.  Behind a bunch of crap (which this property had a lot of) I spot the edge of a Weber Wok. The seller tells me she wants $10.  I don't respond and she says "What will you give me for it".  Before I can even answer she says "I'll take $5".  I tell her she drives a hard bargain and agree to purchase it for $5.  In hindsight I should have held out till she offered to pay me to take it away.

Not sure this was the wok in the box shown in the photo as this one was really dirty. Who knows, maybe there was a second one, NIB that she sold prior to my arrival.  There were three kettles in the yard so it's possible.   This one appeared to have never been used but was covered with dirt like it had sat out in the rain and elements. It quickly cleaned up with dawn soap and a SOS pad.

Coincidentally, in December I received a NIB Weber Wok Tool set for having my photo selected for the WKC calendar.  Sometimes the stars align just right so - Winner, Winner, Chicken Wok Stir Fry dinner......................

In keeping with the wok theme, I used my blue "W" code OTP for the cook tonight.

*yeah, yeah,  I know it's an M

Thank you to @pbe gummi bear for the heads up,  @inkaddictedchef1 for the technical assistance for my first wok cook and @SixZeroFour for the Weber tool set.
