N Code Red Head
« on: February 06, 2021, 02:48:01 PM »
Found this gem down in the woods about halfway from Huntsville to Birmingham last Monday.  FB find, young lady selling and estate item from a local elderly woman she knew that had passed.  She said it had been in a barn type of shed for the past 25 years or so and it looked like it.  I knew I was buying it the second I saw it on FB, and let her know that so no one else would hopefully swoop in.  Took some personal time from work Monday morning and made the trip down - a drive that confused my iPhone maps app and me.  I finally found the place and picked it up.  The young lady said she thought it was probably worth the asking price as if she felt bad for asking it.  Total bargain for me of course and I didn’t even think about a lower offer.

It cleaned up easily, a little surface rust removed from the triangle, new set of SS sweeps I had and I put some trike wheels on it for the fun.....original cooking grate too and couldn’t be happier.  Not a porcelain pop anywhere including around the lid edges.

Wow looks like new, great clean-up too

You know you have problem, when you take PTO to chase colored kettles. Your beach wagon has lugged an other kettle home.... lol

Cheers

And it's not the first time..... hey, flex time is flex time - no questions asked they say.  "Need a few hours to take care of some personal business."  Yeah the beach wagon rear cargo area has seen it's share of Weber goodies!  Oh, also gunna try some of that polish on the ash pan when I get some time.

Nice RRR. The tricycle wheels are perfect on that Red. I picked up some of that aircraft polish as well. Thanks for the recommendation!

Thanks FBG!  I'm looking forward to warmer weather so I can work on these outside without bundling up.  Interested to see your polishing results.
