REACHING THE SUMMIT: $50 2006 Summit Platinum D6 Score!
« on: December 08, 2020, 06:15:09 PM »
Hey everyone! So a few days ago I was looking around on OfferUp on a whim and somehow stumbled across an INSANE deal: A Weber Summit Platinum D6 25 minutes away from me. The price? ONLY $50! Between the price and the short trip, I knew I had to nab it. So, here it is! I added one photo here but I hope to add more before and after photos after the restoration is done. (Still figuring out the process since I'm new here lol) After going through it, it's missing the rotisserie spit and motor, but underneath all the crud, the grill seems to be in really good shape! My only big issue that I see will be the Flavorizer Bars, as they'll likely need to get replaced. I looked up the part (#9899) on Amazon, however, it's OVER $360 and I'm not willing to pay that much. So, does anyone know where I can get replacement Flavorizer bars for a reasonable price, whether they be OEM or Aftermarket? Any help would be really appreciated! Anyway, thanks for looking and have a blessed day! - Benny

Thanks for the links @bbqking01 ! The only problem is the bars on the Summit Platinum have an extra bar welded in between two normal bars to cover the crossover ignition tubes. That's what's making it difficult lol.
EDIT: I found the Flavorizer Bars made for the Summit A & B six burner models that would fit. I would just need to cut off the extra bar to make room for the smoker box. So, I might go this route. https://www.grillparts.com/weber/summit-platinum.asp?product_id=9897

How would you activate the warranty? I know the year is a 2006 but the code itself is quite faded.
