How to tell the difference between 22" and 26"
« on: May 06, 2021, 09:32:04 PM »
I am always watching for used grills, and eventually I want to get a Ranch, but in the mean time I would be happy to pick up another 26". The problem is most people selling don't post the size.

I know it's a long shot with so many styles over the years, but is there any tell tale signs of a 26”?

You can compare the ratio of the top handle and vent to the diameter of the lid. Same goes for determining 14” vs 18”. You get pretty good at it after a while.

Older 26’s have a distinct flatter lid.

4 triangles in the bottom leg support

Newer 26’s have the heat shield/thermometer/lid bale. The leg sockets are about 1” away from where the ash catcher system is.

Some older 26’s came in two tone brown, red, and white/orange with a longhorn bull head (westerner)

I got a second 26 off CL today for a $100. Going to start a new post asking about it.
