Genesis 1000 question
« on: November 16, 2020, 07:08:37 AM »
Hello!  I’ve always wanted a redhead genesis like my Dad had growing up.  I found one in decent shape for $30.  It will be an fun project.

This one looks like it should have the swing up side table but doesn’t.   The owner says it never did.

My question is did Weber sell them without the wooden swing up side table?

I have the same vintage redhead as you and it does not have a side wood swing up table either.

Does your redhead have 13 flavorizer bars?

That will be a nice rehab project, nice score!

Yes!  Going to replace all the innards, which is made possible by the low asking price.  I’ve watched it all summer and fall for the price to drop.

Here is an excellent source for rehab info.

User Bruce is very knowledgeable with gasser rehabs.

My redhead I picked up for $35 earlier this year.
I’ve been busy and have not completed the rehab.

Grill and frame were disassemble and painted with high temp paint. All screws were replaced with SS.

I still need to purchase burner tubes and flavorizer bars.

I need to machine lid wood handle and side table slats.

I bought mine for $100 a few years back. It's an awesome cooker! Congrats on your score!
I think I might need a bigger backyard soon...
