How fast they grow up :'(
« on: September 27, 2020, 07:20:43 PM »
My youngest son move out of the house two weeks ago.  I set him up with my old H code Black Kettle, a chimney and a cool set of tongs.
He sent these pix to me.

I think he will make a fine grill fella.

They sure do and time moves fast.  I've given a Weber Kettle to all the kids and the in-laws over the years.  Nice to see them carrying on the tradition!  Looks like you taught him right.......

Very cool! Have a question for you about the tongs... is the brand name “VERNCO“ and do they come apart like this...

Yes they are.  My dad got a set of them way back in the 70's.  I took a pair when I left in the 80's, been using them ever since.  Found the second pair in an unopened box when we closed down my parents place after they passed.  Gave them to Scott.  Felt guilty that my other son would not have a pair so I sharpened my google fu and found a third set.  May need to look for a 4th set because mine are beat.

That's cool!

What was his first solo cook?

First was Brats and Burgers with his roomate.  The next night he had friends over and did chicken breasts, pollo asado, asparagus and zucchini planks.

He was so stoked the chicken was cooked through and still moist.
