First Cook on New Kettle (First ever smoke too)
« on: August 23, 2020, 05:45:56 PM »
Tonight I did my first ever smoke and first cook on the kettle.

Smoked Jalepeno Popper Stuffed Chicken Breast wrapped in Bacon and glazed with BBQ sauce.

Also grilled up fresh veggies marinated in a homemade balsimic on the gas grill as a side.

Both adapted from HeyGrillHey

Used a chunk of hickory and cherry in the hour and a halfish cook.

Wife said she liked it a lot. I'm pretty happy with the results. I am already seeing a real estate crunch on the kettle though! Time for a second? Lol

Excited for this weekend. Wife is asking for pulled pork and smoked Mac and cheese for her birthday. [emoji854]

Looks delicious man. And the fact your wife is asking for another cook out of you is the highest compliment you can get.

You can do what I did with my 18"

Or you could get an 18" or two to do sides on
Wanted: 18" Platinum any color will work
This is my Kettle there are many like it but this one is mine......

Nice. Are those 6 inch lag bolts? Looks like the head of the lag just sits on the lower grates and 2 nuts sandwich the upper grate? Does the shelf hold weight pretty well? Could it hold a 12 in cast iron pan loaded with Mac n Cheese?

@Bearded it is very stable, I don't have the picture available but I had it full of veggies as for cast iron I'm not sure.  I think for that sort of thing a second kettle would be better.

Looks good. I too just started using my new Performer Deluxe as I just moved into my home 1 week ago today, here in Arlington, TX (I left my old Spirit with my son who stayed behind in Chicago). While hot, the weather has been beautiful, however I keep forgetting to take pics!
