Corona Logo Kettle. Is it possible to remove the logo?
« on: August 17, 2020, 01:27:00 PM »
I picked up a NiB Deep Ocean Blue MT off CL. It has a Corona logo on it. It feels like it's raised. Is it removable? Or is it under the porcelain?

I’d try a razor blade on a corner and see what happens.

I am not positive but I think it is porcelain like the instructions on the control panels of the older gassers.

The age of the kettle can make a difference.  I believe some of the newer kettles didn't have as high of quality paint as some of the older kettles.  I think some of the older kettles may have actually been porcelain coated.

@JEBIV Probably knows.  I remember seeing someone on Facebook with a logo that was starting to come off and he seemed to know what was up.

I was gonna make a joke in bad taste, but instead....

Maybe someone is looking for a logo’d kettle if you’re interested in letting it go?

I can’t imagine it coming off clean, or at least without leaving an imprint

I wonder if the logo on your new Deep Ocean Blue MT could be a new "low temp decal".  In this Weber customization guide, it says these are only available on black charcoal lids.  If it's the older style logo, it's not coming off as it's part of the porcelain enamel.  As mentioned above, you might list the kettle in the Forum's Member Sales and Trades section as a "trade for a NIB non logo Deep Ocean Blue MT" rather than try and remove the logo.

I've tried several times to remove these animal "logos".  No luck trying several methods.  I've learned to live with them.

Thank you very much for all of the replies! I was hopeful that the logo was applied on top of the porcelain because it was raised. I restored a Genesis 1000, so I knew the control panel printing was underneath the porcelain and how to use a razor blade on the porcelain. I experimented on the ® part of the logo. I sprayed it with Dawn HD degreaser and it scraped off with little effort. Here are the before and after photos:

Thanks again!

Good to know it can be done. It must have been the new low temp decal. Thanks for the update.
