Paella
« on: August 11, 2020, 01:20:25 PM »
Has anyone tried cooking a paella on the grill? I have a paella pan that is large enough for six. The problem is that it is so big that when I put it on the electric stove, only the center boils / simmers because of the size. Putting it on the Kettle seems like a no brainer.

If you have thrown it on the grill, did you put it on the grate? On a pizza stone? Any guidance is appreciated.

Mine have been directly on the grill

You should get several responses from others that have done it

My only recommendations are...

Do it

Spread the coals out under the pan

Have fun

And have a safe area available in case you feel things may be getting too hot (although you’ll probably be fine) - this is why you need several grills

Then do it again to keep learning
Dude, relax your chicken.

I’ve done it several times now directly on the grill.  I believe I’ve put some pics up a few times as well. Great way to do paella.

I suffered the same issues with my larger pan on the stove top.

The grill solves that as I can move the coal around to adjust the heat where I want it.

On a Ranch. Set the pan on the grate and coals underneath. Turned out great.

I use a cast iron pan, but yes paella on the 22 inch weber is my favorite dish.
