Euro Gen 3 Performer restoration
« on: August 07, 2020, 08:04:31 AM »
I posted this Performer I got for almost free in the introduce yourself thread (http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/index.php?topic=46068.0 )but here it is, before: https://imgur.com/gallery/jAn2cm5

And after:  https://imgur.com/gallery/C80IrPp

It seems to be some weird European (Denmark) variant that is mostly gen 3 with some gen 2 touches, like the black ash catcher.
The kettle itself was in great shape as was the ash sweeper. The ignition system isn't working to great but I prefer a chimney anyway, and and gifiting a new one with the grill to its new owner. The handle of the ash catcher and the storage rack I could not de-rust to my satisfaction despite spending the majority of my labour on them, so they got plasti-dipped and look great. I resprayed all of the frame with automotive paint, and made the whole thing a little less grey. Not the most detailed resto on here, but I'm really happy with my first attempt.

Nice job....i think the reason the Gen 3's are my least favorite is the frame color. Yours looks great in black.
