I'd leave the metal. Let the weather age it

I think I may do just that. It looks kinda cool now...not sure if it would look as good with me attempting to artificially weather/age it

Nice!  I like the extra work space the table gives.

Very well done
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

I think it’s going to come in handy. The nice part is I can move it out of the way since it’s on wheels and put the gasser or the MBH in there.  It’ll also be where I put my pizza oven.

Getting my 26er modified to be easier to move around the shack. Doing a mini ranch.

Going to add a ring of sheet metal to support the lip and fastened to the bowl using the lid bale holes.

Really nice build!
I swear, when I score a great deal on a 26" I'll stop buying grills... So often.

Nice build.  Think you are going to add a handle to the front of the 26er like a ranch?  It works well on a ranch, but I wonder how easy it would slide in and out of a lid bale on a 26er?

If it works well it would be pretty good for your set up as you wouldn't have to reach so much to the back or slide the grill out.  Only problem is there is no going back after drilling the holes in the lid. :/

Maybe another mini rancher owner could chime in.

I haven’t considered adding an extra handle like a real ranch has. The lid is a little big and heavy for easy one hand removal but for now I can manage it just fine. I may end up just wearing gloves to grab the lid by the lip.

Got another accessory to add to the cooking arsenal. Had a local fab shop make me a flat griddle out of 3/16” steel plate. Going to serve double duty as a griddle for the SSP and as a heat deflector on the 26er for slow and low cooks.

Getting it seasoned up now.
