Half yellow?

I just found a procured my first Yellow SJS. And I'm super happy. But I do hace questions.

When I initially found the ad on Gumtree, it showed the branded lid. And that's all that could be seen.

But when it arrived today, I have found it os only half yellow, as in a yellow lid, but black bowl!

The lid looks like it has been enamelled and not painted, but it is a bit inconsistent as far as coverage goes. It also has the 'M' coded vent attached with a nut and bolt rather than a rivet.

Has anyone seen one done this way in the past? Is this normal fare?

That is an awesome find jocool!! Komatsu machines (excavators etc) generally all have the yellow with black undercarrage or tracks just like your joe. I suspect it probably did come that way!

Very cool and very intersting.  I'd guess that they drilled the rivet out and had the lid changed to yellow themselves or by a third party to match their company colors, then used a bolt to reattach the lid vent.  If Weber did the color change I suppose you might be able to call CS or email them to confirm.  I'm thinking email might be easier so that CS can forward the email around until it gets to the right department that would know whats up with this grill.
