Smokey Mountain 14 grate
« on: January 02, 2020, 01:58:24 PM »
Found a 14” WSM on cL for cheap. Missing top grate. There also happens to be a Smokey joe for even cheaper. Does the Smokey joe fit the top grate area of the Smokey mountain 14”? Can get both for sub $50. Thanks!

Does the Smokey joe grate fit the 14.5” Smokey mountain? That’s my question.

Weber says Smokey joe grates are 13.7" and WSM grates 13".
I swear, when I score a great deal on a 26" I'll stop buying grills... So often.

Pretty sure the SJ grate will fit the top of the 14WSM. The bottom grate is slightly smaller than the top one.

The SJ grate barely fit. Very snug. Had to push it a little. But honestly it tightened up the whole assembly. Won’t work for the bottom. I’ll get that figured out later. Chicken tonight.

Turned out pretty good for first WSM cook. Skin wasn’t super crispy like I’m used to on the gasser. it took a while to get the temp up.

The aluminum pan worked well on top of the empty water pan. Lasagna pan just bent into a semi circular shape. Easy clean up. Thanks!

Looks good. They're fun to cook on and don't use a bunch of charcoal.
