Got this one today...pretty good shape considering the age. It was caked with ash, drippings, etc. Guy said its been in his family since day one...his father-in-law gave it to him. Here's some pre-cleanup pictures.

Here's the cleaned up pictures...believe it or not my other red pat.pending is in better shape than this one. Now I need to decide if I'd be willing to swap this one with someone. Good chance that will happen eventually!

Wow!!! That is a lot of caked on crud. :)

Looking forward to seeing the cleaned up version.

Looks good for no cleanup.  I know it will look great after a little work.  I was close to picking up a redhead with the metal handles.
Still looking.

Nice pick-up....time to get your shine on.  Consider a dull flat blade screwdriver for the crud on the lid.  It will take some time but can be removed.

That crud must make the lid really heavy but very nice redhead overall. You can try soaking the lid too with water and soap to loosen it up a bit. Personally I would take a plastic scraper to it to remove all the loose crud and just hit it with oven cleaner but some people don't like chemicals. Can't wait to see the finished pics!

Looks like the MH Red I picked up not long ago, but yours is in better condition!
Guy I bought it from said his dad bought it brand new.  Amazing what people (won't) hold near-and-dear.....
My wheels are completely black without a hint of white, but glad to see yours retain some.

The front leg - did that era cut the bottom on that angle on purpose?  Mine is just like that and I can't imagine they're both "drag queens"
I've always had gas...  And now a bunch of kettles because of this place.  Thanks!

Great score!! That looks in very good shape. I used the vinegar trick on the rust and it worked great for me.
