Bro-n-Sear grate mod
« on: November 30, 2019, 02:07:40 PM »
Finally was able to borrow the BIL’s dremel tool to cut the expanded metal I had to make a better grate floor for the bro-n-sear. Cut the metal to shape then ground down any sharp edges for safety.

Makes a huge difference in retaining useable charcoal for the next cook. Keeps smaller, but useable, pieces in the basket while allows me to shake the ash out. Never did much metalworking until I joined this group - so glad I did! Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend all!

Well done !!
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Thanks all!

I don't take any credit for the name or the original mod (I'm not that clever!) - it's from a couple YouTube videos showing how to modify two Weber char baskets into one.

The new grate really helps tho! Glad this wasn't a waste of time/effort!
