New gloves needed
« on: October 15, 2019, 04:46:49 AM »
I have been using just plain old surgical gloves to handle my food on the grill/smoker for years. I still burn myself a lot. Now I am finding there are a lot of these high heat silicone gloves that you can handle the food, wrapped or unwrapped, and they are washable. I searched up a ton of these gloves and quite frankly I am not sure what you all use out here. Is there a brand or type anyone prefers? I would get a lot of use from them as I am grilling a couple times a week even in the harsh northeast winter months, Plus a good fire melts the snow and ice in the smoker  ;D

I don't (can't) wear gloves, so a good pair of tongs is always at my side.
Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

There was some good discussion on this topic last week - I hope I pasted the link correctly below.

I bought a pair of what looked to be very popular silicone gloves off Amazon. Found the fingers were short stubby things, kind of like gloves for a minion. Sent them back.

Normally I don’t use gloves but I do when I’m moving hot grates or carrying in hot cast iron pans or pots from the grill. I use some cheap insulated leather work gloves.

I did just order some disposable nitrile gloves. I’ll use them for certain food prep tasks and working on cars or other similar tasks.

I also bought some of those white cotton glove liners. I think they will come in handy for the holidays. Slicing up hot turkey and ham.

Large silicone type gloves I’ve found to be mostly useless except for use as a general hot pad.

I got welding gloves for stuff not requiring dexterity

but for the rest I got these glove liners and use NSF/Nitrile over those - works great (stole this from Malcomb's videos)
