Awesome looking attachment. Did you pour a circular concrete pad for the grill?  That’s cool.

One of my favorite attachments

I use a couple of old cooking grates for the mesquite

How did you go from triangle to flat pan? Is that a utility tray you shaped to fit in the triangle?

I have that attachment for my 26.  It’s made by Gabby’s Grills in Paso Robles, CA.   I use oak logs to cook with it.   Great for Tri Tip and everything else.

Just ordered one of these.  Question for anyone already using one:  why use the top grate for the coals/firewood?  Is it to reduce the risk of crazing or just to get the coals directly butt up against the Santa Maria grate?   Thanks!

More grilling space

More heat distribution

I like raising the grate higher [emoji3]

I don’t get the appeal.  Can someone explain it to me?

zombie post I know.

I have an old performer bowl that was dented so I replaced it. Now I have this old bowl that is missing everything else (lid, sweep, ash catcher.) This attachment appeals to me because I could just make a stand for the old bowl and control the heat with the gabby.

The way it cooks certain cuts of meat is different. Chicken that has skin on it greatly benefits from having high heat underneath it but not too close. There's a sweet spot to cook at.  That's also true for Tri Tip and Carne Asada (Diesmio & Ranchera). You get a nice smoke flavor as well. If you try one or eat food off of a Santa Maria style grill you'll understand what I'm talking about. I don't have one but sure want one.

Also, it's great if you have cold winters. The fire will keep you warm but kind of sucks in the summer if it's too hot out.
