« on: May 24, 2019, 11:41:10 AM »
Picking up a 3 burner Weber next week on the cheap (Free)

Pros and Cons of the North  -  South burners?  Told it needs new burners...

TIA...

J
Lets just say I have acquired a few Kettles.  Big and small.   Vintage and New...  Some say I have a problem.  I find the Kettle, buy the Kettle, USE the Kettle...No problem...

North South burners. Pros? Cons?

I have the old east west configuration.   I think would be slightly better for the rotisserie attachment.  East west might have better convective flow for indirect cooking with the front burner on only.

Being that the N/S grills are fairly new, I am highly skeptical that it would
indeed need new burners unless it was seriously abused or neglected.
I would give it a thorough cleaning and inspection before replacing.
The N/S series are a little bit more difficult to work on than the older models
in my opinion.  Nothing serious, just a pain in the a** at times.  I do not
care for the igniter system, just something more expensive to fix.  The
main complaint I hear from folks in the WGC is that the E/W version is much
more suited when using the rotisserie as michaelmilitello mentioned.

Free is a great price though.... LOL  Post some pics when you get your hands on
it.  I will be happy to offer any help that you may need.

Dave nailed it in my opinion.  They are still a good grill, just not as well made or as durable as the old E/W design.
A bunch of black kettles

Thought we are in the kettle club but I might be wrong [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
But seriously, I will make it even worse. I picked up a cheap version of Weber's gasser for really little money. It's a 4 burner NS Ducane which I'm using ONLY for my DOs. I had to exchange the igniter but that was a $15 fix. For the rest, it's cheap stuff but working simply perfect so I'm rather on the opposite side to the comments concerning real Weber gasser for (almost) free[emoji6]
