Yep I said that right. Maybe not all of you, but most. Praying on weaker individuals such as myself. Going around not only pushing your sickness, but at same time glorifying it. Making it seem like having Weber-itis or even the more restrictive Kettle-itis is not only a good thing, but also part of life's requirement. I am sure I am not alone with my assessment.
Several weeks ago, while shopping for a Weber MT, I came across a HC in pretty good shape, and picked it up for $5 at a garage sale. Good pit, and has served me well in just a few short weeks. I then found this site to learn more about the pit I bought, and more about charcoal cooking in general. I kept reading all the great post on so many topics, and kept telling myself, I am strong, I will never catch this sickness everyone seems to have around me on WKC.
Yesterday I am on CL looking at something completely non-related to Weber, or grills for that matter, and it happened. There before me was a "slightly used" Weber Kettle (not a MT, but I think it is a Premium). Grill, new grates and a cover …$50. Was trying to justify to myself on how that was a good price for almost new weber grill, and technically I still do not have a "Weber" charcoal grill (I do have a Genesis gasser), just the HC.
Then it happened. As I was handing off the $50 and getting ready to put the grill in my car, I realized, darn it, I have it. I caught the inescapable "itis" disease! I have become one of the +1 crowd. Thanks guys! Appreciate all your work in corrupting me. I have gone from zero charcoal grills to now owning two in less than a month. One which seems like a vintage model, and now a much newer model as well. I think this usually becomes a life long illness, for which there are few cures! If this is the worst life long illness I ever catch, I will consider myself pretty lucky and a pretty happy guy. I can see probably adding another unique find, if and when I come across one. My wife and daughter just rolled their eyes at me when I showed them the deck. Pretty sure they will not catch the disease, but will continue to eat all the morsels pulled from my pits.
This post was not meant to offend anyone! Just having a little fun at my expense. Haha. I love this site!
