That looks like a very versatile and portable cooker!

How did you go about removing the front bowl handle?

@jcnaz  The metal handle bracket is still there. I have a nut & bolt going through where the plastic handle would be.

@DrewZ   Do you have or know the thickness of the rod on the lid lock? I emailed ereplacements and they were not to helpful. If you could measure your lid that would help me out. I work at a voke school and the students like little projects like this. Thanks.

Unfortunately, mine is stowed away at my cabin in PA, and I don't know when I'll get there next.

Am I the only one on here that doesn’t have a cabin?

@HoosierKettle Nor do I. My portable is for friends homes, tailgating sporting events and by the river trout fishing.

I've been looking at making a bale for my 18 inch as well.

jacko1962 - you were asking for a template early in this thread, since you've now made one any chance I can ask the same of you? Also, I was assuming the rod thickness is 5mm, does this seem correct?

quisquose - I used 1/4 steel bar and drill stops. I wrapped it all with shrink tubing. I had some 18 gauge dryer wire that I used to get my bends. After I liked what I had I traced around it on a board.

Thanks. That's clearly the best idea, to use wire to get the shape. Why didn't I think of that?
