Vent rivets
« on: June 07, 2013, 04:01:33 PM »
I'm not sure if it has been covered here, but my perfunctory search revealed very little usable information. If I wanted to remove a lid vent for a thorough clean, can I purchase replacement rivets to reattach the vent so it looks factory? They don't offer them for sale through Weber in Australia, and I was wondering if you guys could get them.

Appreciate any help I can get.
If it breathes, we can cook it!

Don't think you can replace the rivets...may be better off drilling it out and reattaching with a stainless nut and bolt.
Not everyone deserves to know the real you. Let them criticize who they think you are.

I did some research a while back. You would need some special tools to make it look factory.
Any rivet experts out there?

I would either go with a stainless buttonhead hex screw or invest in a rivet gun from HD.

When you buy replacement vents from Weber they give you a 1/4-20 bolt and nut.

Is this the transformation tool?
