Yep. I’ve been using a very small single chunk. It still has a big impact. Most of the time I don’t use any smoke wood. Just the charcoal is enough for me.

      Cleaning grills is not therapeutic but looking at row after row of clean grills is.
   With more than twenty-five grills, I rotate "get dirty" three to four per year.
   I avoid using my daisy wheels, that may change this year if I choose my pat pend Fleetwood.

I find cleaning kettles therapeutic and enjoy returning them to like new condition.

I prefer cooking on older, brightly colored daisy wheel kettles

Nearly six years on this forum for me ... And... I have grown to truly appreciate, and admire... Black kettles.

Mostly because that's all I can rescue in these parts (Canada), usually.

I’m sick of brisket and pulled pork at the moment and smoke in general.

I’ve been eliminating smoke on many things.

I still like some mild smoke on ribs and abt’s.

My kitchen is my kettles. The other kitchen belongs to my wife, who can whip up some wonderous things in there. Magic.  Sometimes there's smoke at dinner, sometimes not. We take turns...

I didnt used to know how cheap you can find webers in great shape. With that in mind I used to make fun of my friends that bought webers stuff. Something like ...
Sure pay $800 for a grill you use twice a year... or you could pay rent for a month and pick up a $20 grill at walmart. I still disagree with spending that much but I can understand it if you keep it for 20 years.

When starting on kettle I was frustrated that they were so deep and I couldn't get the same direct heat I did on my cheapos. (I was worse than Jon Snow...I knew nothing

I own a kamado, i have never used it and I cant let it go either cause then I wouldn't have a kamado.

I reuse charcoal all the time.

Whenever someone wants more than I want to pay for a grill I "need" I ask my wife to buy it cause an expensive gift is nice but if I overpay for a grill I feel it everytime I cook on it or see something cheaper.

It took me about 3 or 4 years to build my jeep the way I want it. I know choose to park in the driveway or street so I have a spot for my $30 kettles.

I use lighter fluid the majority of the time unless I’m cooking on a performer.

I have never used Weber charcoal, though I just bought 8 bags.

My wife is waaaaaaay better at finding cool kettles for our collection than I am.

I rarely clean my kettles, my WSM have mold regularly which I have to clean before I use them almost every time.

I regularly purchase Weber stuff on eBay at a high price and am probably one of the fools driving the prices higher than they should be.

I have cooked on less than 5% of the kettles I own.

I pay retail when I buy charcoal
I don't use fans or fancy wireless thermos
I haven't cooked on a kettle in awhile

I'm a charcoal guy, always will be, but I've only had Weber kettles for going on a year and this is my first winter with good grills to cook on. I found a gas kettle last summer and use it more often than my charcoal kettles for the convenience especially with the cold. I cook a mean burger and steak on that gas kettle, but I feel like it's a disservice to my beautiful E code redhead!
