I've seen UDS with custom paint jobs that hold up. But then again a UDS won't get as high a temp as a Weber kettle.

My US version is powder coated and rated to about 500*, so yes I could cook burgers and dogs in it if I was careful. I wouldn’t do steaks. That said, I never will. I’ve got other cookers.

I think we need a bit of an explanation here. The grills at Weber Canada are just painted for display only. Those at Weber USA are the same(as I was told). Rub had his powdercoated and that was something he had custom made.  These grills can not be cooked on, they are made only to look pretty in a display.
