Ad’s are now topics?
« on: August 06, 2018, 12:34:24 PM »
I just noticed a bunch of ads that are masquerading as threads on the app? Haven’t gone through every single sub forum but they are pretty annoying. Says “sponsored” where the views/replies should be.

Also seeing ads after the very last post on every thread. It almost looks like a tagline/signature but changes with every refresh.

I see them too, Mike.  Always the 2nd “post” from the top.

Ok...well I’m surprised more people aren’t commenting on it?

Yeah, I just noticed this too in the WKC mobile app. Garbage if you ask me. Can’t I get away from ads ANY-FUCKING -WHERE???

I didn’t even do a software update.

I saw it weeks or months ago and I asked Troy.

There are no ads masquerading as content.
There haven't been recent changes.

Ad placement varies depending on you, your browsing habits, and ad inventory.

I've considered offering an ad-free experience for a yearly subscription fee.

@Troy

Thanks for chiming in. I use uBlock Origin on my personal computer, so I'm not seeing ads. I am specifically talking about the WKC mobile app.

My question moving forward is...why do the ads appear to have User Handles? Like Charlie said...second from the top on every sub forum.

I'd appreciate it if you set your adblock to allow ads on the WKC.

Ads pay the bills

I believe the ads in the mobile app are labeled with the advertiser name. I'd have to look into it more.

@Troy

Are these app “thread” ads here to stay?

Yes, there are no planned changes to the ad implementation at this time.

I’ve seen them. They don’t bother me at all. This app has exponentially less ads then any other site or app I use. The news apps annoy me most of all.
