Waste of Money Accessories
« on: August 04, 2018, 03:46:04 AM »
New topic of stupid things that you wasted good money on for the BBQ.
AKA: WTF was I thinking ?

Rules:
No bashing on a company just because you don’t know how it works or you feel the need.
Photos will earn you extra credit.
Full stories of why you thought it was a good idea at the time are good for bonus points.
Amount of money spent is not important but always good for a laugh.

Oh.. why do you still have this POS ?

Let the games begin !  🤣

Tip top temp. Not a bad product just not my thing. Any gas grill I have owned except the gga. My smokenator for the 26” is ok but I never use it. Probably a ton of stuff I have forgotten.

Totally agree

Great use of thermal mechanics but I don’t recommend as a temp control device.

I don’t subscribe to controlling temps with top bent unless the charcoal is set up perfectly for the cook.

Relying purely on the TTT will yield inconsistent combustion and inconsistent smoke.

I literally just purchased this chicken drumstick holder at Ace for 8 bucks. I will report back later on tonight after the cook.

*EDIT*

@Dc_smoke309 You right it's a POS. Chicken keeps falling off mine. Rails are too wide for the bone.

That thing is awesome for lollipops and/or crispy skin, especially KFC using the vortex in addition.  Hint: Use foil in the end bone to bulk it up if it is too narrow.

Lowbrass how often is this drumstick holder being turned if I'm using the vortex in a 22" kettle. I got two of these with my 26" kettle and see the room.

That's a grate tip. I used toothpicks instead but forgot to take a pic. It seems like a decent investment.

Weber Cleaning Kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00QSH7MMI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_UKQzBb966FD64

The scraper is ok. The brush is useless. Especially on the 57cm.

So basically spent £15 on scraper

Weber fine mesh basket. Bought it 1,5 year ago. Used it once. IMHO, one of the most useless products of Weber.

Oh my gosh that looks like it would be a pain to clean. All those wire basket roti accessories scare me off from a cleaning perspective.

True, it's simply a nightmare to get it clean.

Dishwasher machine works great for cleaning it.. just chuck it in the top rack and it’s like new.
