18" ash dish to a Collar and pot?
« on: May 25, 2018, 10:36:32 AM »
During my call with customer service I wanted to order a pot for my 18 in that current is only a dish. The lady said it wasn't convertible and I thought that it was odd that they would do it for the 22 and not the 18. Anyone try it? I never really looked at the legs as I am not home.

They made the ash catcher for 18.5s.  It's Weber #65131

Depending on the age of your kettle you might have to use some creativity to attach the ring.  There are lots of tutorials around here to show you how.

Anyone try it?

Yes, I did it to a red 18 almost five years ago.

I ended up ordering from ereplacement.com

It is easily convertible; I ordered an 18” flip grate and ash catcher assembly from Amazon; it is in my garage right now.

Grate is part no. 7433

Ash Catcher is part no. 65131

Will run you about $45-50 for both, tax and shipping.

I converted mine, all the new models have the slots to hang it from the factory, it was one of the best thing I ever did to that grill. makes cleanup a breeze. 14, 18, 22, 26, each has things it excels at, I bought my 18 for camping, now it stands proudly in the Remuda

depending on the age of the 18" OTS the the vent openings are larger than newer OT's so adding a current ash can assembly will fit with slight modification to the tabs that fit in the leg sockets.

I have a "G" code and the vent openings are 1/4"-1/2" larger than the ash can ring, so ash can and will spill over the sides. Its just a minor irritation.

Swamprb, did it have the slots, or did you have to use hose clamps to hold it on?

Kind of hard to see but one of the ring tabs has been bent slightly to fit into the leg socket and the part that holds the ring has been trimmed down

MDB, look under you 18, on the top of the leg sockets on the inside, are there slots?  if so the ash bucket kit just snaps on, if not then you buy 3 hose clamps and use those to clamp it on

It is a DT code and it looks like it has the slots. The rep said that it wouldn't fit. My photos are too large to attach :(
